Job summary

Hamline University in Saint Paul, MN seeks a collaborative musician-educator for a full‑time, tenure‑track Assistant Professor of Music in a program blending music production and performance.

The successful candidate will teach the core Music Production major, direct ensembles, and integrate digital technology with live and recording performances, while contributing to curriculum and departmental service.

Qualifications

• Terminal degree in Music (PhD, DMA or MFA) or ABD by July 31, 2027 (required at time of appointment).
• Active professional performer.
• Strong DAW skills, preferably Logic Pro, with foundation in audio hardware.

Responsibilities

• Teach core courses in the Music Production major, including history, theory, composition, digital technology and performance.
• Direct/conduct ensembles (choir, orchestra, band, jazz band, modern/hybrid groups).
• Teach digital music technology with emphasis on Logic Pro, gain staging, basic audio/MIDI editing and programming.
• Contribute to curricular development, assessment, recruitment and service as part of the music faculty team.
• Provide studio instruction in primary area (vocal, instrumental or composition) and foster inclusive repertoire.
