Job summary

California State University, Chico invites applications for the position of Assistant Tenure-Track Professor of Mechanical or Mechatronic Engineering. The appointment is anticipated to begin Fall 2027 in the Department of Mechanical and Mechatronic Engineering and Advanced Manufacturing.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in mechanical or mechatronic engineering or a closely related field; candidates nearing completion may be considered.
• All requirements for conferral must be met no later than start date of the position.
• Broad expertise spanning Mechanical and Mechatronic Engineering, including modeling, programming, robotics, and mechanical/electrical integration.
• Strong commitment to undergraduate teaching and proficiency in written and oral English.

Responsibilities

• Teach and develop undergraduate courses; this is the primary duty.
• Develop a scholarship area and pursue external funding; mentor undergraduate research.
• Student advising, service on committees and industry associations, engagement with the industrial advisory board, and outreach/recruitment.
• Advise capstone senior design teams in collaboration with industry sponsors.
• Teaching assignments based on qualifications and department needs.
