Job summary

California State University, Monterey Bay invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Mechatronics and Engineering. The successful candidate will help grow the Mechatronics Engineering degree, hire faculty, and lead undergraduate courses with labs.

The appointee will conduct research, seek external funding, supervise student projects, advise students, and contribute to ABET accreditation efforts. California residency and campus engagement are emphasized.

Qualifications

• Earned doctorate in Mechatronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering by start of appointment.
• Demonstrated commitment to teaching undergraduates from diverse backgrounds, including first-generation students.
• Ability to engage students in undergraduate research.

Responsibilities

• Develop and teach lower and upper division Mechatronics courses including labs.
• Engage in independent, publishable research and scholarly activities.
• Solicit funds from private and government entities to sustain research activities.
• Supervise student research and capstone projects.
• Advise and mentor students in research, academics, capstone projects, internships and post‑degree options.
• Develop professional relationships with regional industry and educational partners.
