San José State University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track/tenured Assistant Professor of Mathematics with a specialization in Statistics or Data Science. The successful candidate will teach statistics, data science, or mathematics at undergraduate and graduate levels, supervise student research, and participate in departmental governance.

Qualifications

PhD in Statistics, Data Science, or related field completed by July 2027.
Demonstrated commitment to inclusive teaching and diverse student populations.
Proven record of ongoing research and a plan for future work.
Experience teaching undergraduate and graduate courses.

Responsibilities

Teach a range of undergraduate and graduate statistics, data science, or mathematics courses.
Supervise graduate students on research projects in MS Statistics and MS Data Science programs.
Supervise student teams on CAMCOS industry-sponsored projects.
Engage in department, college, and university governance activities.
Maintain an active, peer‑reviewed research agenda.
Organize classes within the Canvas LMS
Demonstrate awareness of diverse student needs in course materials and advisement.
