Job summary

Morgan State University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in the Department of Advanced Studies, Leadership & Policy to support the MA in Higher Education and Student Affairs and the PhD program, starting August 2027.

The successful candidate will teach, mentor, chair dissertation committees, maintain an active research program, seek external funding, and contribute to service activities at multiple levels of the university.

Qualifications

• Earned Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Higher Education, Student Affairs Administration/Student Development, or closely related field.
• Min. 3 years of professional experience in higher education or related postsecondary setting.
• Evidence of preparation to teach graduate-level courses.
• Knowledge of research methods to mentor doctoral students.
• Active scholarly research and publication agenda.
• Potential to secure external grants or sponsored funding.
• Ability to contribute to the mission of the department, school, and university.

Responsibilities

• Teach master’s- and doctoral-level courses in Higher Education and Student Affairs.
• Teach in areas of departmental need (administration, leadership, policy, finance, equity, etc.).
• Advise Ph.D. students through coursework, milestones, and dissertations.
• Chair or serve on doctoral dissertation committees.
• Mentor master’s students and supervise graduate research.
• Maintain an active research and publication program.
• Seek external funding and grants.
• Participate in professional associations and service activities.
• Engage in program, department, school, and university governance.
