California State University, Long Beach invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Consumer Affairs in the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences. The position is for the Fall Semester with an academic-year salary range of $6,221 to $13,224 per month, and an anticipated hiring range of $7,200 to $7,800 per month.

Qualifications

• Experience working with populations demographically and/or socioeconomically similar to CSULB students.
• Experience mentoring or supporting students using inclusive teaching strategies.
• Experience in consumer protection, consumer advocacy, financial counseling, housing, and/or consumer behavior.
• Experience in leadership positions in professional associations.
• Experience in career and academic advising of undergraduates.
• Evidence of a productive program of research in consumer affairs or closely related field.

Responsibilities

• Teach courses in personal/financial management, housing, family/resource management, consumer protection, and internships.
• Mentor and advise students.
• Participate as a faculty advisor for a student group.
• Participate in curriculum and program development and keep content current.
• Serve on theses/directed project committees.
• Engage in scholarly activities leading to publications and presentations.
• Participate in committee responsibilities at program, department, college, and university levels.
• Engage with advisory boards for the program and related partners.
