Job summary

The University of Montana in Missoula, MT invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Analytical/Environmental Chemistry within the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry. The appointee will teach analytical chemistry courses at undergraduate and graduate levels and expand the program's environmental research focus.

Successful candidates will hold a PhD in chemistry or a related field, have a strong research record, and demonstrate commitment to inclusive teaching

Qualifications

• Ph. D. in chemistry or related field of study.
• Strong record of research and scholarship, including post-doctoral experience or equivalent.
• Commitment to excellence in teaching and effective mentorship of graduate or undergraduate students from all backgrounds.
• Experience communicating effectively with students, professionals, and the public.
• Evidence of working collegiately with students, staff, faculty, and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead and participate in teaching courses such as analytical chemistry and environmental- and ecology-related courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels
• Build on the University's existing strengths in analytical and environmental chemistry
• Conduct interdisciplinary research spanning chemistry, ecology, environmental science, public health, and natural resource science
• Develop new collaborations and research directions
• Expand the University's research capabilities in analytical and environmental chemistry
