Job summary

Fort Valley State University (FVSU) seeks an energetic Assistant Professor of Agricultural Engineering and Technology for a 9-month, tenure-track position shared between the Agricultural Sciences and Agricultural Research departments. The role combines 25% teaching with 75% research, focusing on machinery systems and instrumentation.

The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses, mentor students, recruit into the program, and develop a strong external-funded research

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Agricultural Engineering or closely related field with credentials to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels.
• Experience applying innovative instructional pedagogy, including AI integration in the discipline.
• Demonstrated expertise in machinery systems engineering, machine design, instrumentation, or control systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality instruction in Agricultural Engineering Technology for undergrad and grad courses.
• Engage with industry partners and the CAFST to support teaching and research activities.
• Design, prepare and supervise labs and experiential learning in the discipline.
• Develop and update course objectives, assignments, and delivery methods to meet departmental needs.
• Establish and maintain a robust research program, mentor undergraduate research, and seek external funding.
• Collaborate with Cooperative Extension and other departments to enhance student opportunities and program relevance.
