Job summary

Fort Valley State University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Agricultural Engineering and Technology. The position is a 9-month appointment shared between the Departments of Agricultural Sciences (25% teaching) and Agricultural Research (75%), with responsibilities for teaching undergrad and grad courses, advising, and building a robust, funded research program.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Agricultural Engineering or closely related field.
• Evidence of innovative instructional pedagogy including familiarity of AI integration in the discipline.
• Demonstrated industry and/or research expertise in machinery systems engineering, machine design, instrumentation or control system development.
• Ability to teach undergraduate courses in introductory engineering, CAD, off-road machinery design and agricultural machinery management.
• Demonstrated research activities or industry experience.
• Commitment to advising and mentoring students, involvement in student organizations, internships and undergraduate research mentoring.
• Ability to secure external research funding.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality instruction in Agricultural Engineering Technology and related core courses.
• Engage with FVSU Research Farm personnel and industry partners to teach courses and complete research.
• Design, prepare and supervise laboratory and experiential learning activities.
• Use D2L and other instructional technologies to deliver course materials.
• Develop course objectives, assignments and effective methods for student performance.
• Modify courses to create a dynamic curriculum that prepares students for professional careers.
• Provide timely feedback on student work and mentor undergraduate research.
• Develop and maintain a robust research program and collaborate with Extension.
• Secure extramural funding and establish industry collaborations.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
