Job summary

University of Wisconsin-Whitewater seeks a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Philosophy and Religious Studies with a specialization in Social and Political Philosophy, beginning August 2027. Qualifications

• PhD in Philosophy by the time of appointment.
• AOS: Social and Political Philosophy.
• ABD candidates may apply but degree must be completed by the contract start date in August 2027; if not, they will be hired on a one-year contract with the understanding that their degree will be completed before January 2027 in advance of their first scheduled review.

Responsibilities

• Teach 24 credits per academic year (4/4 workload) with attention to high-impact instructional practices.
• Teach World of Ideas, a capstone course in the General Education program, and courses in History of Philosophy.
• Advise Liberal Studies majors and contribute to curriculum development.
• Engage in research and service to the department, college, and university.
