Job summary

Louisiana State University seeks an tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor of Art with a focus in Painting and Drawing, beginning August 2027. The appointee will teach painting and drawing across BA, BFA and MFA programs, mentor MFA students, and participate in curriculum development.

We value an artist with an active exhibition record, broad knowledge of traditional media and new developments, and evidence of effective pedagogy beyond TA level. Salary commensurate with experience.

Qualifications

• MFA or other terminal degree in painting, drawing, fine arts, or related studio fine arts.
• Proven teaching excellence in studio courses with a focus on painting and drawing.
• Significant record of professional achievements and commitment to research/creative activities in the discipline.

Responsibilities

• Teach 2 or 3 courses per semester at undergraduate and graduate levels.
• Engage in research and scholarly activity.
• Serve on MFA graduate committees and participate in curriculum development.
• Maintain an active professional art presence and engage with broader artistic communities.
• Provide service to the school, college, university, and profession.
