Job summary

Rio Hondo College is seeking a Nursing Instructor for a full-time, tenure-track position in the Health Science and Nursing department. The assignment includes teaching in the ADN/LVN pathways and coordinating the CNA program, with possible evening or weekend classes.

The candidate must hold a California RN license with at least one year of RN experience and a Master’s in Nursing, and be able to teach in medical/surgical nursing and pediatrics.

Qualifications

• California RN license required.
• One year of full-time RN employment experience.
• Master’s degree in nursing required.
• Ability to teach medical/surgical nursing and pediatrics/gerontology; CNA program coordination may be required.

Responsibilities

• Instruct students in medical/surgical nursing and related courses.
• Develop curricula and instructional methods.
• Advise students individually and in groups.
• Support time management and learning skills for students.
• Participate in college activities, flex activities, and staff development.
• Perform peer reviews as required by the contract.
• Engage in recruitment, research and program development for the discipline.
• Serve on institutional committees and adapt to work schedule (day/evening/weekends/online).
