Job summary

Río Hondo College seeks a Nursing Instructor for a full-time, 10-month tenure-track position at the Main Campus. The role includes teaching in entry level and ADN/LVN programs, coordinating the CNA program, and delivering instruction in medical/surgical nursing and pediatrics, with possible evening/weekend classes.

Applicants must hold a California RN license with at least one year of RN experience and a Master’s in nursing. Strong communication skills and commitment to diversity are essential.

Qualifications

• Current California RN license with at least one year of full-time RN experience.
• Master’s degree in nursing.
• Knowledge of nursing discipline and instructional needs of community college students.
• Strong verbal and written communication and flexibility in a changing environment.
• Sensitivity to diverse backgrounds of community college students.

Responsibilities

• Instruct students in the assigned discipline.
• Develop curricula, instructional methodology, and strategies.
• Advise students in both group and individual contacts.
• Assist students in improving time management and learning skills.
• Participate in institutional activities including flex and staff development.
• Perform peer reviews as required in the association contract.
• Participate in other contractually required activities.
• Meet regularly with discipline/division peers.
• Provide support for discipline/division recruitment, research and development.
• Participate on institutional committees and activities.
• Work towards continuous personal growth and development.
• Perform other duties as directed or specified by Board Policy, California Education Code, or Faculty Association contract.
