Job summary

Miami University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Music Education to join an evolving music program committed to excellence in teaching, scholarship, collaboration, and innovation.

The successful candidate will contribute to the undergraduate music education curriculum, mentor students, supervise student teachers, and participate in service to the Department of Music, College of Creative Arts, University, and profession.

Qualifications

• PhD or Doctorate in Music Education by the date of appointment.
• Minimum of three years of successful K-12 instrumental music teaching experience.

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate music education courses as assigned, including foundational coursework.
• Supervise student teachers and coordinate clinical experiences in public school settings.
• Advise and mentor undergraduate students and contribute to a student-centered learning environment.
• Serve as faculty advisor for professional student music organizations.
• Develop and sustain an active agenda of scholarship, research, and/or creative activity for tenure and promotion.
• Identify and pursue internal and external grant opportunities to support scholarly and program initiatives.
• Contribute service to the Department of Music, College of Creative Arts, University, and profession.
