Job summary

California State University, Monterey Bay seeks an Assistant Professor of Mechatronics and Engineering to help grow the Mechatronics Engineering degree. The department is ABET‑accreditation‑focused, collaborating with industry and local research institutions, supported by CSU resources.

The candidate will teach, conduct research, mentor students, and contribute to enrollment efforts in a region known for agriculture tech and marine robotics.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated commitment to teaching undergraduates from diverse backgrounds.
• Be able to engage students in undergraduate research.

Responsibilities

• Develop and teach undergraduate courses (12 units/semester) in Mechatronics Engineering and labs.
• Engage in independent, publishable research and scholarly activities in the field.
• Solicit funds from private and government entities to sustain research.
• Supervise student research and capstone projects.
• Advise and mentor students in research, academics, internships, and post-degree options.
• Develop relationships with regional industry and educational partners.
• Contribute to ABET accreditation through assessment and self-study writing.
