Job summary

Massachusetts Maritime Academy seeks a full-time Marine Engineering faculty member to teach a variety of marine engineering courses and to advise cadets toward degree completion. The successful candidate will also mentor students and participate in departmental activities.

The role includes sailing aboard the Training Ship during a 2-month winter Sea Term, taking part in random drug testing, and contributing to curriculum development while the academic rank is determined by licensure and

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field from an accredited institution.
• Current USCG Second Assistant Unlimited Horsepower license with STCW.
• At least three years of full-time maritime industry experience or higher-ed teaching experience.
• Understanding of university teaching and advising processes.

Responsibilities

• Teach cadets in a range of marine engineering courses (Diesel Propulsion, Naval Architecture, Electrical Systems, etc.)
• Advise, mentor, and guide cadets toward degree completion
• Sail aboard the Training Ship during a 2-month winter Sea Term and participate in random drug testing
• Contribute to curriculum development and program assessment
