Job summary

San José State University’s Department of Design invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Graphic Design, beginning Fall 2027. This is a nine-month, academic-year appointment.

Qualifications

• Terminal degree in graphic design or closely related field.
• Evidence of successful teaching at undergrad/grad levels.
• Active program of creative practice, research, or scholarship.
• Engagement with contemporary graphic design methods across digital and material media.

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses across the graphic design curriculum.
• Develop and sustain an active program of research or creative practice.
• Advise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students.
• Contribute to curriculum development and assessment within the program.
• Engage in shared governance and service commitments.
• Organize classes within the Canvas LMS and support inclusive teaching.
