Job summary

Truman College in Chicago is seeking a Tenure-Track Full-Time Faculty member in Biology. Primary assignment responsibilities commence Fall 2026 and include teaching Environmental Science, Water Resources, Ecology, and Natural Resources.

The ideal candidate will use effective teaching strategies to engage diverse students and promote critical thinking. The successful applicant will design courses, assess student learning, and support student success while fostering an inclusive learning

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or higher in the life sciences field.
• Knowledge of Brightspace LMS or similar learning management system.
• Prior online teaching experience or online teaching certification preferred.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to communicate with a diverse group of staff and students.
• Experience with a diverse, multilingual student population is desired; openness to open-access mission.

TRUMAN COLLEGE

Harry S Truman College seeks candidates for a Tenure-TrackFull-Time Faculty member in the biology department. Primaryacademic assignment responsibilities will commence in Fall 2026 andinclude teaching courses in Environmental Science/ WaterResources/Ecology/Natural Resources. ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

• Design courses to meet learning outcomes and promote students’active participation in their own learning.
• Create an effective learning environment that fosters students’intellectual curiosity and helps students to problem solve usingdiscipline-specific thinking strategies.
• Employ a variety of formative and summative assessments to ensurethat classroom instruction leads to student learning and theattainment of the student learning outcomes for the course.
• Help students reach their academic, personal and career goals andfoster a safe environment that respects the diversity of people andideas by modeling respect for all students and conveying confidencein every student’s ability to learn.
• Contribute to and provide leadership in the student’s academicand professional communities and promote collaboration and teamworkamong members of these communities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Master’s degree or higher in the life sciences field. Lifesciences fields include but are not limited to: Animal Science,Anatomy & Physiology, Biology, Bioengineering, Botany, CellBiology, Ecology, Environmental Biology, Field Biology, Genetics,Human Biology, Ichthyology, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, MD,Mycology, Nutrition, Ornithology, & Zoology.
• Knowledge of Brightspace Learning Management System or similarLearning Management System, preferred
• Prior experience with online teaching (via Zoom) and/or onlineteaching certification is strongly preferred
• Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability tocommunicate with diverse group of staff and students,required
• Experience with a diverse, multi-lingual student population isdesired, as is a commitment to the open access mission of thecommunity college
• Scholarship work, publications, committee work, and otherrelevant work is highly considered

Salary Range is $58,000.00 - $65,000.00

Offered salary will be determined by the respective collectivebargaining agreement and applicant's education, experience,knowledge, skills and abilities.
