Job summary

Truman College in Chicago is seeking a Tenure-Track Full-Time Faculty member in Biology. Primary assignment responsibilities commence Fall 2026 and include teaching Environmental Science, Water Resources, Ecology, and Natural Resources.

The ideal candidate will use effective teaching strategies to engage diverse students and promote critical thinking. The successful applicant will design courses, assess student learning, and support student success while fostering an inclusive learning

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or higher in the life sciences field.
• Knowledge of Brightspace LMS or similar learning management system.
• Prior online teaching experience or online teaching certification preferred.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to communicate with a diverse group of staff and students.
• Experience with a diverse, multilingual student population is desired; openness to open-access mission.

Responsibilities

• Design courses to meet learning outcomes and promote active student participation.
• Create learning environments that foster curiosity and problem solving using discipline-specific thinking.
• Use formative and summative assessments to ensure learning outcomes are met.
• Help students reach academic, personal, and career goals and foster a respectful environment.
• Contribute to and lead in student academic and professional communities and promote teamwork.
