The University of South Carolina’s School of the Earth, Ocean, and Environment invites applications for a full-time, nine-month tenure-track faculty position at the rank of assistant or associate professor in fish ecology, to begin August 16, 2027.

We seek an outstanding candidate to establish a nationally recognized, externally funded program in fish ecology, collaborating with the Baruch Institute and the Department of Biological Sciences.

Qualifications

• Assistant rank: Ph.D. in ecology, marine science, or related discipline and at least two years of research experience.
• Associate rank: 6 years of relevant research experience, some teaching, and evidence of funding and publications.
• Must establish an independent, extramurally funded research program and mentor students.

Responsibilities

• Teaching load: one course per regular semester (1:1), may include undergraduate non-science majors or SEOE majors and a graduate course.
• Contribute to SEOE faculty committee service.
• Build and sustain an externally funded research program in fish ecology.
• Collaborate with Baruch Institute and the Department of Biological Sciences.
