Job summary

Virginia Tech invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor in Geography focusing on environmental security amid global climate and environmental change. The workload is 40% teaching, 50% research, and 10% service, including graduate mentoring and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Qualifications

• Research expertise in environmental or climate science with human–environment perspectives using geospatial, computational, or data-intensive approaches.
• Proven or strong potential for university teaching, including large introductory courses and graduate mentoring.
• Evidence of potential for competitive external funding and high-quality scholarship.

Responsibilities

• Establish or continue an externally funded research program with annual proposals as PI or co-PI.
• Teach a course load consistent with rank and support undergraduate and graduate instruction in environmental security and geospatial analysis.
• Mentor graduate students in Geography MS and PhD programs; contribute to service activities.
