Job summary

Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota invites applications for a full-time, tenure-eligible Assistant Professor of English Journalism and Nonfiction Writing to begin August 2027.

The successful candidate will teach journalism and writing courses at all undergraduate levels, including first-year composition, carry a five-course teaching load per year, advise The Concordian, and contribute to curriculum development and the Multimedia Journalism major.

Qualifications

• ABD status for a Ph.D. or MFA in journalism or creative writing.
• Strong professional experience in journalism, especially print.
• Demonstrated experience teaching journalism classes.
• Demonstrated experience teaching creative writing, especially nonfiction.
• Demonstrated experience teaching composition.
• Demonstrated potential for research, scholarly, creative activities.
• Ability to advise and mentor journalism students and the college newspaper.
• Commitment to scholarly excellence and service on committees.

Responsibilities

• Teach journalism and writing courses at all undergraduate levels, including first-year composition.
• Five-course teaching load per year.
• Advise The Concordian, the college newspaper.
• Mentor journalism students and provide academic advising after the first year.
• Assist department and interdisciplinary programs in curriculum development, revision, and evaluation.
• Contribute to the Multimedia Journalism major.
• Pursue an active scholarly agenda.
