Job summary

Towson University in Maryland invites applications for a tenure-track, nine-month, full-time Assistant Professor of Composition in the Department of Music. Primary duties include instruction in music composition for undergraduate and graduate students through private studio lessons and classroom teaching.

Additional responsibilities include teaching music theory and musicianship, and managing the Department of Music’s Creative Technology Lab. Start date expected August 2027.

Qualifications

• Doctoral degree in composition required.
• ABD candidates considered but must complete degree prior to appointment.
• Two years university-level teaching experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Instruct music composition for undergraduate and graduate students through private lessons and classroom teaching.
• Teach music theory and musicianship in classrooms.
• Manage the Creative Technology Lab for the Department of Music.
