Job summary

Dickinson College invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Buddhist Studies in the Religion Department. The incoming colleague will teach Buddhist Studies and core Religious Studies courses with a focus on inclusivity and diverse perspectives.

The position begins Fall 2027 and includes support for developing new courses emphasizing sustainability, global exchange, and the environment. Ph.D.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in religious studies or a related field by start of appointment.
• Demonstrated ability to teach in Buddhist Studies and core Religious Studies courses.
• Competence in languages relevant to Buddhism (Sanskrit, Pali, Chinese) is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Teach courses in Buddhist Studies and core Religious Studies on rotation, including Buddhism and the Environment, Contemplative Practices in Asia, and Religions of Asia.
• Develop at least two new courses during the pre-tenure cycle.
• Create inclusive learning environments and participate in departmental life.
