Job summary

The University invites applications for The Robert H. N. Ho Family Foundation Professor in Buddhist Studies.

The candidate will teach five courses annually, advise senior theses, and develop at least two new courses during the pre-tenure cycle. Core duties include teaching Buddhist Studies and Religious Studies, guiding research, and contributing to sustainability and global exchange initiatives. The role requires a Ph.D.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in religious studies or related field by start of appointment.
• Demonstrated competence in Religious Studies.
• Ability to teach Buddhist Studies and core Religious Studies courses.
• Proficiency in languages relevant to Buddhism (Sanskrit, Pali, classical Chinese) preferred.
• Potential for exceptional teaching and research.
• Ability to create inclusive learning environments.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in religious studies or a related field in hand by the start of appointment
• Demonstrated competence in Religious Studies
• Ability to teach Buddhist Studies and core Religious Studies courses
• Competence in other languages relevant to the study of Buddhism is desirable, including Sanskrit, Pali, classical Chinese, and/or a vernacular Asian language

• Ability to create inclusive and welcoming learning environments
