Southwestern University’s Biology Department invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor beginning August 2027. We welcome diverse research in ecology and evolution, with interest in conservation biology, molecular ecology, systems biology, or environmental health.

The successful candidate will teach five courses per academic year, including Foundations in Ecology and Evolution, a Methods course, and the Biology Capstone Seminar, and will supervise undergraduates in research.

Qualifications

• PhD in Biology and subdisciplines required
• ABD candidates will be considered if terminal degree earned by Aug 1, 2027
• Strong commitment to student success and residential liberal arts teaching

Responsibilities

• Teach five courses per academic year, including Foundations in Ecology and Evolution
• Offer an intermediate-level Methods course and the Biology Capstone Seminar
• Advise students and participate in departmental and university service
• Supervise undergraduate research in faculty laboratories
• Foster inclusive excellence and curricular innovation in the classroom
