Job summary

Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, MA, invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor and a tenured Associate/Full Professor in Biology, beginning July 1, 2027 or later by mutual agreement.

We seek candidates with an MD or PhD in biology, chemistry, physics, computer science, or related fields, pursuing innovative research across molecules, cells, organisms, and their interactions, including computational approaches and AI-enabled science.

Qualifications

• M.D. or Ph.D. degree in biology, chemistry, physics, computer science, or a related field (required by the start of employment).
• Pursue innovative approaches to fundamental research on molecules, cells, organisms, and their interactions across scales.
• Areas of interest include chemical biology and biochemistry; microbial biology; structural, cell, and molecular biology, including cryo-electron tomography.

Responsibilities

• Develop and lead an independent, vibrant research program in the biological sciences.
• Develop and teach undergraduate and/or graduate-level courses in biology and related areas.
• Mentor graduate and undergraduate trainees from a broad range of backgrounds.
