Job summary

San José State University’s Department of Computer Science invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Computer Science with a specialization in bioinformatics or related field, starting August 2027. The appointee will teach a mix of required and elective CS and Data Science courses, contribute to the MS in Bioinformatics, and build an active research program.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Computer Science or closely related field.
• Demonstrated excellence in teaching and scholarship.
• Awareness of the educational goals of a diverse student population as might be gained in cross-cultural study, training, teaching, and other experience.

Responsibilities

• Teach in-person courses for undergraduate and graduate programs.
• Supervise and advise students and develop a productive research program.
• Participate in department, college, and university governance and service.
• Organize all classes within the Canvas LMS and ensure inclusive teaching practices.
