Job summary

The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley seeks an Assistant Professor in Writing and Language Studies focusing on Spanish Translation & Interpretation to begin Fall 2024. The successful candidate will develop and teach translation/interpreting courses at graduate and undergraduate levels, in traditional and online environments.

Responsibilities include advising students, serving on program and department committees, and building a research agenda in Translation and Interpreting Studies;

Qualifications

• Native or near-native fluency in English and Spanish.
• Demonstrated teaching excellence.
• Demonstrated potential for a strong research and publication record.
• Ability to teach translation and interpreting topics in the English–Spanish language pair.
• Ability to teach in bilingual contexts across department areas.

Responsibilities

• Develop and teach translation and interpreting courses at undergraduate and graduate levels (traditional and online).
• Advise students and serve on program and department committees as needed.
• Develop a solid research agenda in Translation and Interpreting Studies.
