Position Summary
Tenure Track Assistant Professor with an emphasis in Physical Activity Pedagogy RANK : Assistant Professor EFFECTIVE DATE : August 2024 The University of Idaho’s Department of Movement Sciences and the College of Education, Health and Human Sciences are pleased to announce the availability of a full-time 9-month tenure-track assistant professor position in Physical Activity Pedagogy in the Exercise, Sport, and Health Sciences ( ESHS ) Program. We aim to recruit a dynamic educator to teach and develop undergraduate and graduate courses in the following areas: health methods, secondary physical education methods, adapted physical education, program development, and skill theme activity classes. The ideal candidate will establish a focused line of scholarly inquiry and publication and grant submission record in physical activity pedagogy that is aligned with the healthy active lifestyles mission of the department. Expectations of the position also include a commitment to advising undergraduate and graduate students and providing service (e.g., recruitment, retention, graduate accreditation) and outreach within the ESHS Physical Education Teacher Education Program. The ideal candidate is also expected to foster collaborations within the department and more broadly across the university and in schools and the community.

Required Qualifications
Ph.D./Ed.D. in Physical Education Teacher Education, Physical Activity Pedagogy or a related field K-12 physical education teaching University teaching in two or more areas of the following coursework: Physical Education Methods, Health Methods, Adapted Physical Education, Curriculum Development, or Skill Theme activity classes School/outreach collaborations Evidence of scholarly work in physical activity pedagogy aligned with health active lifestyles
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with recruitment and retention of students Development of coursework (e.g., online and face-to-face) for graduate and undergraduate programs High school physical education and health teaching experience Knowledge of CAEP accreditation and standards and procedures Coaching background Research line incorporating qualitative and/or quantitative methods focusing on physical activity, mental health, and/or social emotional learning among youth Evidence of funding or potential for external funding.
