Job description

The Department of Applied Mathematics at the University of Colorado Boulder invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position beginning August 2027.

We seek candidates in computational mathematics or physical applied mathematics, including nonlinear waves, dynamical systems, and applied partial differential equations. We are especially interested in candidates whose research connects to machine learning and artificial intelligence or to quantum science. A Ph.D. or equivalent degree in mathematics, applied mathematics, physics, or a related field is required by the start date, and postdoctoral research experience is preferred.

The department’s 21 tenured and tenure-track faculty span computational mathematics, nonlinear dynamics and waves, mathematical biology, physical applied mathematics, probability, and statistics and data science. Boulder offers unusual access to collaborators in quantum science through JILA, NIST, and the CUbit Quantum Initiative, and in artificial intelligence through campuswide institutes and initiatives.
