Job description

The Department of Nuclear Engineering (NUEN), College of Engineering at Texas A&M University, invites applications for up to four full-time tenure-track positions with a 9-month academic appointment, and the possibility of an additional summer appointment contingent upon need and availability of funds, beginning August of 2027. Applicants will be considered for the faculty title of Assistant Professor.

Specialties of interest include, but are not limited to, advanced fission reactors (with focus on multiphysics analysis, safety, risk analysis, and instrumentation and controls), radiation detection and measurement (including detector and instrumentation development and radiation spectroscopy), and fusion science and engineering (with focus on fusion power plant engineering and power conversion, inertial fusion energy and high-energy-density physics, and magnetic confinement and plasma physics).

Candidates whose research bridges these areas or provides complementary capabilities are also encouraged to apply. The department welcomes candidates with experimental, computational, or combined expertise. Research and teaching that responsibly leverage data science, artificial intelligence, or machine learning are also welcomed where those approaches advance the underlying science or engineering. Successful candidates will be expected to establish and sustain an externally funded, nationally recognized research program; publish impactful scholarship; teach undergraduate and graduate courses; mentor students; collaborate across disciplinary boundaries; and contribute through professional and institutional service.
