Position Summary

THE DEPARTMENT OF CRIMINOLOGY AT STONEHILL COLLEGE invites applicants for an assistant/associate professor (associate professor preferred), tenure-track appointment in Criminology to begin in July 2025. Our new colleague would join a department of five full-time faculty with a wide range of disciplinary expertise and a commitment to fostering diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in their classrooms. The department is nested in the Martin Institute for Law & Society that provides our students with interdisciplinary learning opportunities for accomplishing Stonehill’s mission of educating the whole person so that each Stonehill graduate thinks, acts, and leads with courage toward the creation of a more just and compassionate world.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

We seek applicants who are committed to excellence in teaching, advising, and mentoring undergraduates and who exemplify the teacher-scholar model with a clear understanding of how to integrate vibrant teaching, research, and student engagement. The teaching load for tenure track faculty is three courses per semester. Successful candidates will be ready and able to teach key departmental classes such as, Critical Introduction to Criminal Justice, Criminological Theories, Statistics, or Research Methods for Criminology. We are particularly interested in candidates with areas of research expertise that complements existing department strengths.



Education and/or Experience

Applicants should have a completed Ph.D. in criminology or criminal justice. ABD candidates will be considered based on experience and a firm schedule to finish the degree by August 2025. Qualifications must include a demonstrated excellence in undergraduate teaching. Candidates who enhance the department’s diversity are particularly encouraged to apply.



Preferred Qualifications

Qualifications include a demonstrated commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching. A completed Ph.D. in criminology, criminal justice, or sociology (with a clear focus in criminology or deviance) is preferred; ABD considered based on experience and a plan to finish the degree by August 2013.
