Job description

TheDepartment of Chemistry and Biochemistry at East Stroudsburg University (ESU)invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor with aspecialty in analytical chemistry starting in August 2027. Appointment at theAssistant or Associate Professor level will be commensurate with qualificationsand experience. For full consideration, applications will begin on September 28, 2026.

The successful candidate will demonstrate highly effective teaching andenthusiasm for advising and mentoring a diverse population of undergraduatestudents. Primary responsibilities include teaching analytical chemistry andassociated laboratory courses. Additional teaching responsibilities may includegeneral chemistry, non-majors' courses, and upper-division offerings in thecandidate’s area of expertise. An active research program involvingundergraduate students is expected. Faculty contribute to university service byparticipating in activities including committee memberships, curriculumdevelopment, and outreach.

The Department's Chemistry and Biochemistry programs are accredited by theAmerican Chemical Society (ACS) and the American Society for Biochemistry andMolecular Biology (ASBMB). The department is located in the Hoeffner Scienceand Technology Center and houses 13 dedicated teaching and researchlaboratories, a cold room, and modern faculty offices. The department maintainsan impressive suite of instrumentation including a Bruker 400 MHz NMR, AgilentLC/Q-TOF Mass Spectrometer, GC/MS, HPLCs, IR, UV/Vis, and fluorescence spectrometer.

Qualifications:

• A Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or closely related field must be completed prior to appointment.

• Previous experience ordemonstrated ability to teach analytical chemistry and general chemistry ispreferred.
  
• A record of peer-reviewedpublications is highly desirable, as is experience in obtaining externalfunding.
  
• Experience or interest incurriculum and course development is advantageous.
