Descripción del empleo

We're recruiting a Tenancy Sustainment Manager to lead our Tenancy Sustainment Service within Housing Operations. At the heart of this rewarding role is helping people stay in their homes when rent arrears, anti-social behaviour, hoarding or other challenges put their tenancy at risk. Leading the service, you'll guide colleagues, oversee complex cases and make sure residents receive the right support as early as possible. Strong partnerships across the council and with other organisations will be key to preventing tenancy breakdown, eviction and homelessness. Your housing knowledge, professional judgement and leadership will help us achieve better outcomes for residents and support our wider ambition to make Milton Keynes a better place to live. Site-Based role This is a Site-Based role, and you'll be expected to work from the designated workplace. Interviews for this role will be held on 25th November 2026,

  • Lead and manage the Tenancy Sustainment Service, supporting your team to deliver timely and effective interventions for tenants at risk of losing their home.
  • Oversee complex and high-risk cases, ensuring decisions and tenancy sustainment plans are proportionate, person-centred and legally compliant.
  • Manage, support and develop Tenancy Sustainment Officers through supervision, case oversight, coaching and performance management.
  • Develop effective ways of working that identify people at risk early and bring council services and partner organisations together around their needs.
  • Monitor service performance and use information about outcomes, including prevented evictions, repeat interventions and rent arrears, to improve the service.
  • Provide oversight of enforcement decisions, safeguarding and relevant housing requirements, including authorising Notices Seeking Possession where appropriate.
A Chartered Institute of Housing Level 4 qualification, equivalent qualification, or demonstrable equivalent knowledge and experience, alongside a detailed understanding of housing legislation and safeguarding.

Bringing experience of supporting tenants with complex needs, you'll understand how issues such as rent arrears, anti-social behaviour, hoarding and mental health can affect someone's ability to sustain their tenancy. An effective leader who can support, coach and develop colleagues while maintaining oversight of performance and complex casework. Confident in making balanced decisions, you'll be comfortable working under pressure, managing competing priorities and explaining complex or sensitive information clearly. With a collaborative approach, you'll build trusted relationships with residents, colleagues and partners while using service data to identify where outcomes can be improved. Able to travel between locations, including residents' homes and community venues, you'll have a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle and be able to work flexibly when the service requires it. Full UK Driving Licence and access to a vehicle To be successful in this role, you'll need a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle. If we offer you the role, we’ll ask you to provide evidence of your driving licence and vehicle insurance, including cover for business use. We’re unable to confirm an appointment until these documents are received. As part of the pre-employment checks, should you be offered the role, we’ll carry out a Basic Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
