Qualifications

Purpose

Provides basic to complex temporary support for any given department within the University at any given time in a variety of job titles.

Responsibilities
  • Provides basic to complex temporary support for any given department within the University at any given time in a variety of job titles. Provides specific skills and experience to support University departments. Answers multi-line telephone system and fields questions. Check, collect, and distribute campus mail. Provides general support to staff, faculty, and visitors.

  • Performs general office functions - filing, copying, faxing sorting. Experience maintaining calendars and schedules for multiple administrators, composing and/or editing correspondence. Working with databases and working with confidential information. Working with Word, Excel, and Outlook programs.

Required Qualifications

High School graduation or GED. An equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate. Experience with basic to advanced administrative work. Experience multi-tasking. Experience with detail-oriented procedures. Experience following instructions. Experience providing excellent customer service. Experience working independently and as a team member. Must have interpersonal skills. Must be dependable, reliable, responsible, motivated, resourceful, and versatile. Must have the required education, skills, and experience in order to perform the specific temporary assignment successfully. Regular and punctual attendance is a must. Professional demeanor.

Preferred Qualifications

Two years or more of experience performing the specific skill or experience of the temporary assignment. Bachelor's degree. Proficient experience with Workday (Cloud Enterprise Resource Planning - ERP) Software, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project, Access and Outlook applications. Experience with Web browsers. Capable of working in a fast-paced and changing work environment. Demonstrated ability to work with confidential documents and maintain confidentiality. Excellent attention to detail. Professional demeanor.

Hourly Rate

$15.00 + depending on qualifications

Working Conditions
  • Attire: Business Casual

  • May work around standard office conditions. Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation. Use of manual dexterity. Climbing of stairs. Lifting and moving.

Work Shift
  • The work hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

  • Candidates must be flexible to work varied hours as indicated by job assignments.

Employment Eligibility

Regular staff who have been employed in their current position for the last six continuous months are eligible for openings being recruited for through University-Wide or Open Recruiting, to include both promotional opportunities and lateral transfers. Retirement Plan Eligibility

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
