Job summary

ReNEW Schools is seeking a temporary/substitute Special Education teacher in Indianapolis, IN for the period 10/15/2026 to 11/20/2026. The teacher will provide services to students with IEPs, develop IEPs, and support diverse learner needs in a dynamic classroom setting.

Responsibilities include delivering individualized instruction, collaborating with staff and parents, maintaining progress data, and planning lessons to meet learning objectives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education preferred.
• Current Indiana Teaching License with an emphasis in Special Education is preferred/required.

Temporary/Substitute position from 10/15/2026 - 11/20/2026

Special education teachers provide services to students who have been identified as being eligible for special education services and have an Individualized Education Program (IEP). The teacher should be committed to helping students by offering support and services to overcome practical obstacles to their learning.

Non-Certified Daily Rate - $150.00

Educational Responsibilities:

• Develop initial and annual IEPs for students on their caseload
• Facilitate effective lessons
• Provide support for academic, behavioral, social emotional, and adaptive needs
• Prepare lessons with the needs of the learners in mind
• Design activities to achieve the learning objectives of the students
• Respect students and treat them with compassion and understanding
• Develop educational content including notes, assessments, and assignments
• Progress monitor goals and achievement, maintain data tracking, evaluate and document progress
• Supervise classes to ensure all students are learning in a safe and productive environment
• Collaborate with school administrators, teachers, staff, and parents
• Organize supplies, resources, and equipment
• Deliver individualized instruction to each student by encouraging interactive learning opportunities
• Ensure your classroom is clean and orderly
• Plan and implement educational activities and events beyond the IEP when appropriate
• Prepare and distribute progress reports, grade reports, and semester reports
• Plan, prepare, and attend case conference meetings
• Provide services to students based on their individual needs, either within the classroom setting or resource room
• Show commitment and professionalism through attendance, punctuality, and standards within your professional responsibilities
• Establishing and maintaining a positive line of communication with parents

Job Requirements

Bachelor'sDegree in Elementary Education preferred

Current Indiana Teaching License with an emphasis in Special Education is required for this position preferred
