Job summary

Gateway Longview is seeking a Temporary Special Education Teacher (B-2) in Buffalo, NY. This full-time, 10-month position includes a 6-week summer program and regular meetings with families and staff.

The role emphasizes individualized instruction, trauma-informed practice, and adherence to NYSED standards and IEPs. Responsibilities include implementing standards-based lesson plans, supervising students, collaborating with support staff, and maintaining thorough documentation.

Qualifications

• Must hold NYS Special Education certification or be actively pursuing certification.
• Experience with IEP development and state regulations is preferred.
• Ability to collect and analyze data to inform instruction and program decisions.

Responsibilities

• Create a safe, structured 6:1:1 classroom environment aligned to student needs and behavioral plans.
• Provide active supervision to ensure safety and engagement.
• Develop standards-aligned, developmentally appropriate, culturally responsive lesson plans.
• Collaborate with support staff to ensure consistent instructional strategies.
• Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs in compliance with state regulations and agency procedures.
• Track progress toward IEP goals through data collection and observations.
• Communicate with families and collaborate with service providers to promote student success across settings.
• Maintain documentation including lesson plans, IEP progress, and parent communication logs.
• Participate in required training, including TCI certification, for professional growth.
