Job summary

Sauk Rapids-Rice Public Schools, Rice Elementary School, seeks a Temporary Special Education Level VI Paraprofessional for 6.5 hours/day (8:35 a.m. – 3:35 p.m.), Monday–Friday, from Aug 31 to Dec 8, 2026.

Located at Rice Elementary, this role supports students with special needs in basic skills, social skills, and daily routines. Responsibilities include supervising students, assisting with data collection of progress, and supporting instruction under teacher direction.

Qualifications

• High School diploma required.
• MDE Highly Qualified status required.
• Ability to lift/move at least 50 pounds.
• Ability to work as part of a team with supervising teachers.

WORK HOURS

6.5 hours per day (8:35 a.m. to 3:35 p.m.), Monday through Friday, from approximately August 31 through December 8, 2026.

JOB DUTIES

1. Assist student(s) with special needs throughout the school day with instruction in basic skills, social skills and routine assistance for students who need support with managing extreme behaviors, toileting, hygiene, medical and mobility needs
2. Supervise special education student(s) to ensure safety
3. Assist with collecting and monitoring of student progress data.

QUALIFICATIONS

1. High School diploma
2. Highly Qualified per MDE requirements for special education paraprofessionals *
3. Acceptance of students' disabilities and limitations
4. Must be able to lift, pull, or move a minimum of 50 pounds
5. Accepts direction from supervising teacher(s) and is willing to work as a team

SALARY and BENEFITS

Salary based on the 2025-2027 School Support Employees Agreement Level VI from $20.58 up to $22.91 per hour.
