Job description

Cloud Chamber is seeking a talented Temporary Senior Lighting Artist to contribute to the development of the next BioShock game. This role involves working within Unreal Engine to craft immersive lighting for gameplay and cinematic sequences. The ideal candidate will have a passion for blending art and technology to evoke mood and atmosphere, collaborating closely with other artists and teams to enhance environments and storytelling.

Job Details:
  1. Develop and refine the lighting pipeline within Unreal Engine.
  2. Collaborate with lighting, technical, animation, and cinematic teams to create compelling visuals.
  3. Design shot compositions and render key art and marketing visuals as needed.
  4. Address technical lighting challenges in partnership with VFX and cinematic teams.
  5. Troubleshoot Blueprint issues and propose elegant solutions.
  6. Support art standards and best practices within the team.
  7. Maintain a positive, innovative, and collaborative work environment.
  8. Work under the guidance of the Lighting Lead to ensure visual consistency.
  9. Contribute to efficient lighting workflows and pipelines.
  10. Research and share new lighting techniques and technologies for continuous improvement.
  11. Coordinate with other art departments to achieve cohesive visual results.
  12. Incorporate constructive feedback effectively while maintaining a positive attitude.
  13. Uphold the values of Cloud Chamber.
Skills, Experience, and Qualifications:
  1. Over 5 years of real-time lighting experience in AAA games, with a portfolio demonstrating final lighting and rendering skills.
  2. Proficiency with Lumen, Sequencer, and Blueprint.
  3. Experience as a Senior Lighting Artist on at least one AAA title.
  4. Strong cinematic and character lighting skills.
  5. Bachelor’s Degree in Art, Digital Media, or equivalent experience.
  6. Experience with modern FPS engines and art pipelines.
  7. Ability to develop complex lighting solutions and workflows.
  8. Experience creating high-quality lighting under runtime constraints.
  9. Excellent communication and team collaboration skills.
  10. Detail-oriented, deadline-driven, adaptable to change.
  11. Strong problem-solving skills and ethical standards.
  12. Positive attitude and team-player mindset.

This is a fully remote position based in the United States, with salary ranges varying by state:

  • Colorado: $33 - $60/hr
  • California: $43.25 - $67/hr
  • New York State: $43.25 - $67/hr
  • Washington: $33 - $60/hr

Compensation includes market-based pay, potential bonuses, and benefits. Details will be provided upon offer. The role is at-will, with company reserves to modify compensation at any time.
