Job summary

JOHNLEONARD is seeking a Senior Construction Site Manager to lead all phases of construction project management for transportation infrastructure and rail systems. The role encompasses on-site leadership, multidisciplinary coordination, and systems integration to deliver projects safely, on schedule, and within budget.

Ideal candidates have 5–10+ years in construction management, strong scheduling skills with Primavera P6 or MS Project, and a track record of managing large-scale infrastructure

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related field.
  • 5–10+ years of experience in construction management or construction project management.
  • Experience with large-scale construction projects, subcontractors, budgets, schedules, and field operations.
  • Experience with transportation infrastructure, rail construction, or systems integration preferred.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and construction documentation.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, quality standards, and safety regulations.
  • Experience with scheduling software (Primavera P6, MS Project, Smartsheet).
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 standards is a plus.

Schedule: Full-time | Monday-Friday, 7am-4pm

Assignment Duration: ~1 year starting ASAP

About the Opportunity

Our client, a leading transportation infrastructure engineering firm, is seeking an experienced Senior Construction Site Manager to lead all phases of construction project management, from planning and site mobilization through project closeout. This role oversees construction site operations for complex transportation infrastructure and rail systems projects, ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The successful candidate will provide on-site leadership, coordinate multidisciplinary teams, manage systems integration activities, and collaborate with project stakeholders to deliver successful infrastructure projects.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related discipline.
  • 5–10+ years of experience in construction management or construction project management.
  • Demonstrated success managing large-scale construction projects, subcontractors, budgets, schedules, and field operations.
  • Experience with transportation infrastructure, rail construction, or systems integration preferred.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and construction documentation.

This position combines office and construction site responsibilities. Work may involve active construction environments, varying weather conditions, and periodic travel between project locations. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is required while on-site.

Key Job Functions
Construction Project Management
  • Lead all aspects of construction site management from project initiation through completion.
  • Ensure compliance with project scope, schedule, budget, and quality objectives.
  • Monitor project performance, identify risks, and implement corrective actions.
  • Prepare project reports, schedules, forecasts, and executive updates.
Systems Integration
  • Manage the design and development of transportation systems architecture integrating hardware, software, and networking components.
  • Oversee systems integration, interoperability, and compatibility across multiple platforms.
  • Direct integration testing, validation, and commissioning activities.
  • Develop project plans, schedules, and resource allocation strategies for integration initiatives.
  • Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, civil, and software engineering teams to align project objectives.
  • Identify and mitigate technical and operational risks throughout deployment.
  • Supervise construction crews, subcontractors, and field personnel.
  • Assign work, monitor performance, and maintain accountability for project deliverables.
  • Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and safety-focused work environment.
Scheduling & Resource Management
  • Manage labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor resources.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules using Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or Smartsheet.
  • Track progress and adjust schedules to meet project milestones.
Safety & Regulatory Compliance
  • Enforce OSHA safety requirements and industry best practices.
  • Conduct safety meetings, site inspections, and hazard assessments.
  • Ensure compliance with building codes, regulatory requirements, and quality standards.
Stakeholder Communication
  • Serve as the primary on-site liaison for clients, project managers, inspectors, and project stakeholders.
  • Communicate project status, risks, schedule updates, and issue resolution.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to maintain project alignment.
Documentation & Reporting
  • Ensure documentation complies with contractual and regulatory requirements.
  • Proactively resolve construction challenges and workflow obstacles.
  • Recommend process improvements to increase project efficiency and quality.
  • Participate in lessons-learned reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.
