Job summary

Valley Fine Foods is seeking a detail-oriented Temporary Senior Accountant to support our Accounting and Finance team during an employee’s maternity leave. This position will help maintain day-to-day accounting operations, support month-end close, and provide financial and cost accounting analysis across multiple entities and manufacturing locations.

The ideal candidate is organized, analytical, and comfortable managing multiple priorities while meeting deadlines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 1–2 years of relevant accounting experience.
• Working knowledge of GAAP.
• Strong Microsoft Excel and MS Office skills.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines with multiple priorities.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with auditors.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and prepaid expense schedules.
• Reconcile bank, balance sheet, fixed assets, inventory, and loan accounts.
• Support month-end and year-end close, including consolidation.
• Prepare financial reports and variance analyses, researching discrepancies.
• Maintain fixed asset records and CIP reclassifications.
• Assist with audit requests and property tax reporting.
• Review BOMs and ensure inventory costing accuracy.
• Analyze manufacturing costs, variances, and WIP.
• Coordinate with Operations and Shipping on inventory movements.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and special projects.
• Provide backup support to accounting team.
