Job summary

The University of Louisville is seeking a Temporary Research Engineer to join a focused project on simulating and validating blood flow through arterial geometries. This is a full-time, 3-month appointment based at Belknap Campus.

The role involves operating a benchtop flow-validation system, setting up CFD simulations in arterial geometries, and fitting model parameters to experimental data while documenting all procedures and results.

Qualifications

• BS degree in chemical engineering or related field with fluids and transport preparation.
• Experience with CFD simulation and post-processing using ANSYS Fluent.
• Ability to work carefully with experimental hardware, data-acquisition methods, pumps and sensors.

Responsibilities

• Operate a benchtop flow-validation system relevant to arterial-flow and RTD measurements.
• Set up, run, and document CFD simulations of blood flow in arterial geometries.
• Fit model parameters to experimental/clinical data; assess goodness of fit, uncertainty, and sensitivity of key assumptions.
• Maintain organized records of simulation settings, experimental conditions, data-processing steps, and results.
