Job summary

The University of Louisville’s Price Institute of Surgical Research has an immediate opening for a Temporary Research Assistant to support colorectal cancer and inflammatory bowel disease studies. You will assist research technicians and fellows under supervision to carry out a variety of routine and non-routine experiments.

Essential duties include RNA and protein extractions, PCR and other basic biochemical tests; transcribing and analyzing data; maintaining long‑term tissue cultures of rodent

Qualifications

• 3+ years of relevant experience or equivalent education and experience.
• Bachelor's degree in a related science field preferred.
• Experience with RNA/protein extraction, PCR and basic biochemical tests.
• Ability to transcribe and analyze data.
• Possibility to maintain long-term tissue cultures and monitor cell viability/contamination.
• Conduct literature searches and assist with presentations and publications.

Responsibilities

• Aid in routine and non-routine experiments under supervision.
• Perform tests including RNA and protein extractions, PCR, and basic biochemical tests.
• Transcribe and analyze data.
• Maintain long-term tissue cultures of rodent or human cell lines and monitor viability/contamination.
• Conduct literature searches and help prepare presentations and written articles for publication.
• Assist with other duties as assigned.
