Job Description:

This position will create a positive exercise experience using a variety of training, teaching, and motivational techniques. The Temporary Personal Trainer leads and motivates small groups/individuals through intentionally designed training sessions. They plan effective, exercise science-based individual sessions for different fitness and experience levels. They also possess motivational and leadership techniques that help individuals achieve fitness goals. Trainers understand the human body, the science of exercise, and how to inspire, challenge, and motivate change in the lives of those they lead. This position may also assist with teaching F45 and providing health education sessions to members and the OU community, as well as providing facility support and completing other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

Required Education: High School Diploma or GED.

Skills:

  • Must be able to train all ages and special populations.
  • If not currently certified, must have the ability to obtain a certification accredited through the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) within 6 months of hire.
  • Current NCCA-approved certification is strongly preferred.

Advertised Physical Requirements:

  • Regular exposure to disagreeable conditions, extreme temperature changes, odors, and hazardous chemicals.
  • Lifting and carrying loads up to 50 pounds.
  • Excessive use of arms in a back and forth motion, stooping and bending.
  • Prolonged standing and walking.
  • Must be at least 16 years of age as required by Fair Labor Standards Act.
  • May have constant exposure to loud noises.

Departmental Preferences:

  • Personal Trainers currently certified through a NCCA accredited organization such as NETA, ACE, AFFA, ACSM, or NSCA.
