Job Description

This position is for employment during the Summer 2025 term. Training will begin immediately upon hire and could begin as early as May 2025.

Student Employee - Personal Trainer:

Using a variety of training, teaching, and motivational techniques, this position will create a positive exercise experience. This position is a professional who leads and motivates small groups/individuals through intentionally designed individualized training sessions. Sessions may include both in-person and virtual training. They plan effective, exercise science-based individual sessions for different fitness and experience levels. They also possess a wealth of motivational and leadership techniques that help individuals achieve fitness goals. Trainers know the human body, the science of exercise and how to inspire, challenge and motivate change in the lives of the people they lead. This position also assists with providing health education sessions to members and the OU community in-person or via Zoom.

Job Requirements

Required Education: Must be currently enrolled in a combination of two terms as a student at the University of Oklahoma. Hiring contingent upon verification of current student status.

Must attach Spring, Summer and/or Fall 2025 ONE class schedule

Skills:

  • Must be able to train all ages and special populations
  • If not currently certified, must have the ability to obtain a certification accredited through the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) within 6 months of employment
  • Current NCCA-approved certification is strongly preferred

Advertised Physical Requirements:

  • Regular exposure to disagreeable conditions, extreme temperature changes, odors, and hazardous chemicals
  • Lifting and carrying loads up to 50 pounds
  • Excessive use of arms in a back-and-forth motion, stooping and bending
  • Prolonged standing and walking
  • May have constant exposure to loud noises

Department Preferences:

  • Personal Trainers currently certified through a NCCA accredited organization such as NETA, ACE, NASM, ACSM, or NSCA.
