Responsibilities

• Operate fixed‑wing aircraft safely and legally under IFR.

• Exercise final authority over aircraft operations and safety.
• Familiar with assigned and backup aircraft and medical interiors.
• Conduct detailed flight planning, often on short notice.

Mission & Impact

As a PC‑12 EMS Pilot, you’ll be the critical link between scene or referring facilities and receiving hospitals, executing safe, legal, and weather‑appropriate air ambulance operations. You’ll exercise final authority for the aircraft, crew, patients, and equipment while upholding Air Methods’ gold‑standard safety culture.

What You’ll Do

• Operate Air Methods fixed‑wing aircraft safely and legally under IFR, ensuring conditions are airworthy and suitable for mission acceptance.


• Complete thorough preflight inspections and aircraft walk‑arounds before cockpit entry and after each flight.


• Sign the Daily Flight Log to verify airworthiness and maintain accurate, timely documentation.


• Exercise final authority over aircraft operations and the safety of passengers, cargo, and equipment.


• Be fully familiar with assigned and backup aircraft—including medical interiors and systems—and ensure the medical team is comfortable with onboard equipment.


• Conduct detailed flight planning—often with little notice—to exacting standards.


• Comply with FARs, the Aeronautical Information Manual (AIM), the General Operations Manual (GOM), and all company policies and procedures.


• Maintain positive, professional relationships with colleagues, EMS partners, hospitals, and the public.


• Regularly participate in company meetings, activities, projects, committees, and community outreach.


• Other duties as assigned; this role has no supervisory responsibilities.

Offer at a Glance

• Base Stipend: $50,000 for the temporary assignment


• Sign‑On Bonus: $15,000


• Housing: Off‑duty housing provided


• Roster: 7 days on / 7 days off, 12‑hour shifts

What You’ll Bring (Minimum Qualifications)

• Total Time: 2,500 hours total flight time


• Fixed‑Wing (Category) Time: 2,000 hours


• PIC in Category: 1,000 hours


• Cross‑Country: 500 hours


• Fixed‑Wing Turbine: 500 hours


• Night: 100 hours


• Actual Instrument (in category): 100 hours


• Recency: Flown the relevant fixed‑wing category for a commercial operator or in the military within the previous 24 months


• Education: Associate degree (or equivalent from a two‑year college/technical school) plus 2–5 years of related experience/training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelor’s degree preferred.


• Professionalism: Strong CRM, communication, and customer‑service skills with a collaborative, mission‑first mindset.

Certifications & Medical

• Pilot Certificates: Commercial Pilot with Instrument rating for the applicable category and class; an ATP (restricted or unrestricted) in category satisfies this requirement.


• Medical: Current FAA First‑ or Second‑Class Medical Certificate.


• Fitness: Ability to meet company medical fitness standards and aircraft weight‑and‑balance limitations.
