Under direct supervision, performs tasks requiring unskilled and semi-skilled manual labor involving repair and maintenance tasks to fulfill departmental needs; performs other related duties as assigned. Performs a wide range of tasks requiring manual labor which may include ground maintenance, custodial, building maintenance, highway maintenance, solid waste operations, fleet maintenance or other designated areas as assigned. This may include the operation of power, mechanical and hand tools or equipment depending on assignment.
Six months of experience performing manual labor in a construction, grounds maintenance or public works environment; must possess and maintain a valid Arizona driver's license and the ability to be covered by county insurance.
An equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved may be considered.
Work is primarily performed under direct supervision in a variety of climatic conditions and may include exposure to mechanical and chemical hazards.
Essential functions of this position require: lifting, manual dexterity, large motor skills, ability to communicate.
Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects; involves sitting, walking and standing are required regularly, incumbents may be required to kneel, crouch/squat, crawl, climb, stoop, turn/twist, balance, reach, or handle.
Mental Application: Utilizes memory for details, verbal instructions, emotional stability, critical thinking, adaptability and creative problem-solving skills are important.
