Job summary

County of Riverside is seeking a Temporary Recreation Coordinator to support the Regional Park and Open-Space District—Parks at Crestmore Manor in Jurupa Valley, CA. The role involves tours, event scheduling, contract management, setup/teardown, and event support.

The ideal candidate has strong customer service, time management, troubleshooting, and organizational skills, with preferred supervisory or team lead experience and familiarity with MS Office.

Qualifications

• Experience in planning, organizing, and leading community and recreational programs and activities.
• Knowledge of community, recreation and special events activities and methods of accommodating activities to various interest levels; basic first aid; basic mathematics; correct English usage, grammar, spelling, vocabulary, punctuation, format, and style.
• Ability to plan, develop, and carry out a schedule of community activities and/or special events; lead and instruct groups; meet and deal tactfully with the public; communicate effectively in writing and orally; maintain records; complete forms.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the development and implementation of community activities and services for the County Parks.
• Generate and research ideas for activities to meet the needs of various age groups; engage community groups to determine interests.
• Develop programs by securing instructors, arranging facilities, assessing budget impact and determining fees.
• Assist the public in planning activities and events at the Parks such as weddings and picnics.
• Organize and direct arts and crafts groups, hobby groups, youth and senior citizen groups, and special interest groups; coordinate games, sports, and contests.
• Attend social meetings of special interest organizations; prepare publicity releases and speak to community groups and schools to promote participation.
• Provide basic first-aid as needed; may coordinate a volunteer program and/or lead a small team.
