Job summary

National Park Service seeks a Park Ranger (Interpretation) to enrich visitor experiences through thoughtful interpretive content and programs. This role supports front-line service, visitor education, and community engagement within a park setting in the United States.

You will design and deliver engaging interpretive materials and programs, supervise staff and volunteers, and collaborate with partners to advance park goals and outreach to diverse audiences.

Qualifications

• Must submit transcripts to support claimed education if substituting education for experience.
• Unofficial transcripts acceptable, but official transcripts required before start if education was used to qualify.

Responsibilities

• Plans, designs, develops, and improves interpretive materials (webpages, app content, audio, video, signs, publications, waysides) and delivers formal and informal interpretive and educational programs to diverse audiences.
• Acts as a front-line representative of the National Park Service, greeting visitors in centers, parks, or at outreach events with orientation, information, and informal interpretation.
• Builds cooperative relationships with coworkers, park partners, educators, Tribes, community groups, and the public to provide quality interpretation and effective park outreach.
• Engages local communities through on- and off-site interpretive programming and outreach.
• Coordinates relationships with academic/cultural institutions and government agencies; may assist partners in developing their own interpretive or management plans in alignment with park goals.
• Oversees visitor facility operations and informs staff and volunteers through supervision, training, coaching, and mentoring.
